lol. More washing for Peter. Nah, the movies always miss out those all important small details. -If you ever get the time, I definitely recommend the first issues of Amazing Spider-man by the immortal Stan Lee and legendary Steve Ditko. They're the oldest Spidey stories, and still the best.
awesome job...Can you take MY request? Well, I wanted someone to draw a WELL done anime picture of Spider-Man kissing Poison Ivy (Because I think they'd make a good couple. Feel free to ask me why and I'll tell you) and because you are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G I wanted you to do it. Can ya? Pleeeease?
Sorry, dude, I've got way too much on with my webcomic and commissioned work at the mo. I'd like to, but I did promise a fair few Skyrim portraits a few months ago and I'm going to be quite a while on them. I will keep it in mind, but I'm not sure when I'd have the time.
Hey! Your superhero favorites exactly match mine! I'm a DC girl (not a DC-only zombie, but I almost always prefer DC) but Spidey has always been my top favorite, and probably always will be no matter what crap Joe Quesada forces him into.
Anyway, about the actual ART, I love it. The colors, the linework, the background ... everything's really polished and well designed. Looks very professional! I love Spidey's expression (lol how does he manage to show an expression under there?), and the pose — half preoccupied or depressed, half poised to take off. Makes it look like he just stopped there for a minute to rest and then accidentally thought about all the Charlie-Brown-luck he's had recently and made himself sad I don't know if that's what you were aiming for, but that's the impression I got from the piece. Also, I just love how you drew his hands. Spidey's hands are such important parts of his body it's a must that they're designed in a spidery way and draw people's attention. You really did an excellent job!
You know what, I haven't read an up to date Spidey in years. I stated reading them from the beginning a while back and I'm currently at the end of 1983. Is Quesada the current artist?
Thanks a lot for all the great comments on this. I spent a while on it. If I was after a mood it was probably just to make him as intense as possible. I was listening to the Spin Doctors -Pocket full of Kryptonite album funnily enough as I drew him.
Quesada's the Editor in Chief for Marvel, and mandated a godawful story called "One More Day" that had Mephisto retcon Peter and MJ's marriage out of existence. To date, he seems to be the only person in the entire universe who thought that was a good idea.
Who's Linkara? I must say the most disappointing era of Spider-man I've read so far is in the late 70's- a villain that roller-skates, "the rocket racer" and another that plays guitar and hypnotizes his audience. Bad times... but then Roger Stern came along and made it all better.
I did it when I first got a wacom and I was all into zooming in to every detail obsessively, I regret that now a bit, I spent a lot of time trying to fix pixels that would be too small to even see in the finished thing. Anywho, this took me about 2 weeks. I could probably get it done in two days now. :C
